All about RED
Hi, my name is Rich Goetter and I started as a woodworker back when I was 8 years old. My father had a small workshop in our basement and taught me my first lessons in safety, working with wood, joinery and finishing. He started a 4H club called the HammerHeads and taught some of my friends as well. I continued to tinker with projects over the years and accumulated a collection of tools. In late 2000, I inherited all his tools when he passed and I built my own workshop.
Since then I’ve been making items for myself and for friends and family. Today as I hit the half century mark in my life, I wanted to make more and share these items with others. My father’s name was Erwin (also my middle name) and I felt it appropriate to include his name when I created Richard Erwin Designs.

Much of my project wood is reclaimed, materials that were headed for a landfill. Some is wood which I’ve pulled from my parents 4 acres of woods, mostly fallen trees. I also search local cut-off bins and do purchase some pieces when I see some good character or a deal I can’t pass up.
Thanks for visiting my site and I hope you find a piece which speaks to you.
